The concept of phantasmagoria transcends the realm of reality by merging fantastical musings with the idea of identity to create PHANTASM for the spectators. PHANTASM is a multitude of layers, splintering into three stages of identity: suffocation, transformation and liberation. PHANTASM also explores the core of fashion, while engaging in conversation with the visionaries of today. Functioning as a visual exhibition, PHANTASM is created by, and features the works of, the Level 2 students of LASALLE College of the Arts from both the BA(Hons) Fashion Media and Industries as well as BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles programmes.

THE HEAD OF SCHOOL OF FASHION
Fashion education has evolved rapidly to meet the changing needs of the industry globally, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the School of Fashion, here at LASALLE College of the Arts, we offer a critical and multidisciplinary environment for students to collaborate and challenge preconceived notions of the fashion industry to create new possibilities. We train creative individuals to become competent storytellers, image-makers, fashion designers, curators, and producers, as fashion has increasingly become an essential medium to communicate different visual narratives and is a vehicle to develop ways of portraying, to reimagine new innovative ideas, processes, and business models.
PHANTASM is a clear example of this. A multi-disciplinary project featuring the works of our Level 2 students from the BA(Hons) Fashion Media and Industries (FMI) and the BA(Hons) Fashion Design and Textiles (FDT) programmes. This project has been conceived as a creative collective where students worked in collaboration to create this exciting multi-layered fashion exhibition. Through the use of powerful visual images and films, the students explore issues of identity through the themes of suffocation, transformation, and liberation. PHANTASM invites us to reflect upon the world in which we currently live and opens a dialogue to engage us in bigger conversations surrounding fashion today.

Covid-19 has affected our routines. Within the industry, everyone had to rethink the way we create, interact and consume fashion. This is by no means a complaint. Rather, it is further proof that the global pandemic has changed our lives.
And as the world takes on, and practices, new skills, we have to ask ourselves: how do we inspire our students to develop their own fashion language and become globally engaged creative thinkers and makers in a completely digital environment?
The answer is PHANTASM - a digital exhibition that features the creative works of the Level 2 students from both BA(Hons) Fashion Media and Industries as well as Fashion Design and Textiles programmes.This cohort-level submission, led by FMI’s Kevin Tew and Yeo Tian Poh, who assumed the roles of Art Directors for this project, saw the students working together as a creative collective. And with Celine Yong at the helm, conceptualising and designing what you see today, they have produced a 360-degree multi-layered digital platform comprising visual imagery, filmography, and creative writing, with kick-ass typography and elevated layouts.
Indeed, we are so proud of these creatives whom we are honoured to call our students. They have stepped up to the plate to take on this mammoth-sized challenge we threw at them.
And on this note, we also want to thank Circe Henestrosa for giving us this opportunity to do so, and for putting her trust in us.
